The city of Golconda was the center of a flourishing diamond trade.
Golkonda, meaning shepherd hill, was built consecutively by three dynasties.
Because of the vicinity of diamond mines, especially Kollur Mine, Golconda flourished as a trade centre of large diamonds, known as the Golconda Diamonds.
Golconda Fort, also known as Golkonda is a fortified citadel and an early capital city of the Qutb Shahi dynasty, located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
In this video we have just entered into the Fort through the main gate and we are following the pathway through the courtyard headed for the climb to the top of the fort.

Every corner of the fort is a piece of history.
The Kakatiya dynasty were followed by the state of Warangal, which was later conquered by the Islamic Bahmani Sultanat.

Well, we aren't done yet, but we decided to take a break and enjoy the view from half way up. As you can see the city has crept up right to the fort walls edge. To take the video and pictures at Golconda Fort you have to pay an extra admission fee. Well worth the small price.
